Ten Short Deaths
Ten Short Deaths is a collection of short stories alluding to murder, accidental and natural death or the presumption of death. There is a peerless “twist” at the end of the writings to surprise the reader with an unseen outcome. Some of the stories reflect a bucolic setting, while others relate to the seashore, the Deep South and suburban America. The characters in the short stories have been generated by experiences with sundry people in the author’s life. The deaths in the manuscript occur in a diverse manner and may seem authentic to the reader due to personal experiences or perceptions. Although death is the end of human life with gloomy conclusions, many of the stories provide some droll encounters for the characters.

McGinnis’ writing style combines elements reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King, offering thought-provoking narratives with unexpected endings. As a retired law enforcement and nutrition professional, McGinnis draws from a diverse background to craft stories that are both imaginative and deeply personal. Above all, the collection aims to inspire readers and encourage faith in Jesus Christ as their savior.
